Who can use the kiosks?
Any South Dakota vehicle owners may use any South Dakota DMV Now kiosk in the state with the proper identification.
You can renew at a kiosk up to 90 days before to your expiration date and up to 9 months after the expiration of your current license tags (late fees may apply).
How can I pay?
You can pay with credit or debit cards (Discover, MasterCard and Visa only).
What do I need to bring with me to use a kiosk?
A vehicle owner can navigate through the easy touch screen (voice assistance available) with a valid South Dakota driver’s license, South Dakota identification card,
or if a company, the information provided on its renewal notice.
What type of vehicles can't be renewed at a kiosk?
Certain boat and snowmobile renewals cannot be renewed at the kiosk at this time.
How does the kiosk work?
Simply type your driver’s license or ID card or enter the information required on the touch-screen.
This action retrieves all registrations and allows you to select only the registrations you want to renew. Follow the instructions to review your vehicle record, and pay fees.
The machine will print your receipt, registration and decal on the spot. Just grab your documents and go!
Can I renew my registration if I need to change my mailing address?
Yes, but you will need to update your mailing address through the Update Contact Info transaction and then start the vehicle registration process.
Can the kiosk do other transactions?
Yes, the kiosks you can also update your contact information, file a report of sale, print a sellers permit, renew your drivers license or apply for a duplicate SD Drivers License or ID card.
How is the using the kiosk different from renewing online?
If you renew at a South Dakota DMV Now kiosk, your registration card and license plate sticker will print out immediately.
If you renew online, you'll have to wait for your card and decal to be mailed to you.
